After update, XnView cannot execute - requires CPU with sse4.2

Post by Sprintdriver »

My workspace (Optiplex 780) that have working well in many years for storing multimedia and for simple editing. Including using XnView MP.

However after latest software update (today) - XnView fails to execute. No windows, no nothing.

Starting from terminal gives this error message

Code: Select all

$ /usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=stable --arch=x86_64 --command=xnview --file-forwarding com.xnview.XnViewMP
Incompatible processor. This Qt build requires the following features:
    sse4.2 popcnt
That I have understood (from web search) means XnView now require the CPU having sse4.2 flag. That is kind of stupid because I don't want to toss the computer just because of this.

So the question - Is there a workaround for this issue?

1.12.x uses now Qt6 which requires sse4.2, so you can't only use the 1.11.7
