Just make all file lists look the same - file list on the left and all buttons on the right side.
Or find another idea, but no tabs.
Worthless statement. Any reason for this? Just 'no tabs please' is not an argument at all.
We are also not trying to fit XnView to suit our tastes, but to improve overall functionality.

X.
I think it would be confusing. Too busy to explain more (now).
On many dialogs there is no enough space to put file list and options...
What dialogs (e.g.)?

I like and support the idea of a uniform file list, especially since I had and have the same in mind, see topic "Unified way for creating file list".

OK, maybe for these dialogs, but you want to move file list to another tab on all dialogs? E.g. Batch convert would have 3 tabs, I think it's too much, it could be confusing...

What about my suggestions? Users could choose what they will use.
