Clicking on shortcuts (.lnk) of folders

Post by Troken »

In the browser, when double-clicking on a link (.lnk), could it be changed so XnView opens the link instead of (as now) not recognising the file?

-> "Error opening the file <xxxxxxx>"

This would be appreciated by anyone using links alot.

Try to enable option/Browser/Thumbnail/show thumb for file link

It is already enabled, so it is shown in the window, but when I double-click on it, the error appears. This means I have to search through the filestructure to find the folder, instead of using the shortcut. Would be easier to just click it open from the shortcut.

It's a link on folder?
Pierre.

Yes, it is.

I can now see that I was not too clear on that, but as you understood - the problem appears when trying to open a folder-shortcut.

I had similar problem, but can't reproduce anymore. Anyway, it's (partially) fixed in the new RC (not final) version - folder is opened in explorer.

Yes, that is correct, the v1.82 RC1 can handle the shortcuts, but not as I expected. It opens the folder-shortcut as a separate window.

This might be alright sometimes, but wouldn't it be better and more intuitive to open the folder in XnView's own browser window, just as in Windows?

Actually, in Windows, you can choose to open the shorcut (folder) in the same window or as a separate window. May be an idea for XnViews settings?

Not that I want to complain, this topic is merly a suggestion and an idea, that would hopefully make browsing in XnView easier. If not implemented into XnView, it's still a great piece of software, thanks!

Of course, but there are too many bugs and just one Pierre (author)...

I know, its totally up to Pierre to make his priorities what to do, I understand that. And his work is highly appreciated, no doubt about that.
