Error when moving files to new folder

Post by sullysnet »

<Moderator's note: This topic has been split from another topic>

I get an error when I move a set of images with this build...... seems like that issue was fixed but broke something else ?

I open xnview in browse mode so I can see all of the thumbs of the pics I want to organize and move into separate folders. I select the ones I want and right click on them and select move to folder. After I click that I get an error with a red X graphic on it saying Problem (DSC001.jpg) I close the error and it just goes back to the browser and does nothing. Doesn't even create the folder. I have tried this on many sets of pics. I am moving those same pics in ACDsee (have it loaded as a backup)

By the way I love this version of the app and I've been telling many people about it :)

Strange, I've moved many pictures off my camera to a networked folder on another computer with no problems at all. Is there any other information you could give about this?

Also, create a screenshot of the error and post it here please!

Confirmed. The program does not create new folders when moving/copying files. v.1.80.3 works- it says "folder does not exist. do you want to create it?"

Yes sorry forgot to add that. I am creating a folder while moving these files. I know I kind of said it but should have stated that more :) but I could do a screen cap if needed

Confirmed - only if I type new folder name, e.g. "...\New", not if new folder is created with 'New folder' button.

I can't move pictures with 1.82.2 from one folder to another, using the mouse, at all!!! It appears an error. It only works by right-click and then "copying to".

Please explain more (what OS, how do you try to move them)...

First try to use default settings - close xnview and rename xnview.ini file.

I can move files by "drag and drop" with the mouse just fine.

I'm unable to Alt-M "move" files to existing folders (don't know about new ones). Attempt to move gives "Problem <filename>" popup. Can copy & delete. Attempting to Rename gives similar error.

Also, Fullscreen button from Browser doesn't work - depresses, flickers, back to Browse mode. Open then Fullscreen does work.

All worked OK 2 releases ago, not since.

I'm using Windows 98SE, have latest version of XnView, have tried uninstalling, manually removing all from registry, reinstalling "clean", reboot -- same symptoms.

Anything else I can do to help troubleshoot?

We need another Win 98 user...

Edit: Maybe I found him, check this topic please, I think there is a bug only with Win 98.
