Because an image can be displayed in browser/preview/view [each mode having its background own color setting]. Having this option will universally affect all displays of the image's transparency, so users don't have to change each of the 3 modes background color.Xyzzy wrote:Why not change background color then?TsunamiZ wrote:I mean having an option to specify a color to apply to the transparency area of all images. Useful to toggle for certain images that don't look as clear against the current view/preview/browser background color when transparency is enabled.

That's not necessary because, when enabled, this option will universally affect all images' transparencies when displayed. Would be nice to have a toolbar button to toggle this feature, if added.Xyzzy wrote:But you still to have to change this option for very image, because every image requires another bg colour?

OK, I think I get it now.
You want to actually SEE transparency and be sure that its color contrasts with bg (because it could happen that palette color set as transparent is similar to bg color).
But, do you really need to separate setting for all 3 modes? Wouldn't one in General be enough? Something along: (checkbox and color selector).

Code: Select all

I've only suggested one setting that's universal to displaying transparency color in XnView. But, do you really need to separate setting for all 3 modes? Wouldn't one in General be enough?
The 3 modes I mentioned were to point out that each of those modes currently has a background color setting. This new feature wouldn't interfere with those 3.
