"Slice and Splice"

This new function would go on the "Edit" menu; it is related to both "crop" and "cut." If it were my choice, I'd put it next to "crop."

1. The normal selection tool is used to select an area that goes from border to border horizontally across the image.

2. The user clicks on "slice and splice." (Or just "slice"; or just "splice")

3. That operation divides ("slices") the image into two parts; that above the selection, and that below the selection.

4. The selected area disappears.

5. The two parts of the image are put back together ("spliced"), minus the selection.

6. We now have an image that is identical to the original, except that the part that was selected has entirely disappeared.

7. The same thing works vertically as well as horizontally.

8. The operation ONLY works when the user has selected an area that goes from border to border, either vertically or horizontally.

This would be a great aid to technical writers (like me) who have to show lots of screen shots, and are forced to include lots of empty screen area.

HyperSnap have this function which is called "remove strip" and u can use it either vertical or orizontal.

i'd like XnView to ave this as well. it would be great to make it work also in batch mode

If you don't put this feature in XnView, I might tell some of the fundamentalist right wing extremists that have taken over our country that there are hidden supplies of oil in France that you're not telling us about. Then we'll invade your country, kill lots of people ("terrorists"), set up secret prison camps, and torture people until we get all the features that we want in XnView.

anyway i hope they will keep this feature in consideration for next releases.

i use that function a lot with external softwares. it would be great to do it with XnView as well
