Hi all
I like XnView, but i see some limitations & bugs:
1. "Copy to ..." & "Move to ..." for FOLDERS don't work in browser mode. I select folder(s) right click & select "copy to ..." or "move to ..." and ... nothing. It's big problem for me. Can you fix it?
2. Can you increase "Description" length limitation to 1024 or 2048 characters?
3. Can you add IPTC fields to "Search" dialog?

Re: questions
First, thank you for your suggestions. Pierre is the one and only author of XnView, but read my comments:Evgen wrote:Can you give me some comments from XNView team, please?
I'm not so sure with this one: Currently, when selecting all files (Menu 'Edit->Select all, or Ctrl+A) the folders are also selected. You can guess what happens if people now move their files...Evgen wrote: 1. "Copy to ..." & "Move to ..." for FOLDERS don't work in browser mode. The description is saved in a text file, so maybe it's not too much effort to change this. Pierre knows...Evgen wrote: 2. Can you increase "Description" length limitation to 1024 or 2048 characters?
Makes sense. But all IPTC fields? Hmm..Evgen wrote: 3. Can you add IPTC fields to "Search" dialog?
Note:
It would be much easier to answer if you had one issue in your post, only, see Rules and Guidelines.
Folders selected with files or without it, but I can't move or copy folders in xnview.I'm not so sure with this one: Currently, when selecting all files (Menu 'Edit->Select all, or Ctrl+A) the folders are also selected. You can guess what happens if people now move their files...
If I select folders only and try to copy/move "destination select" dialog not open.
If I select folder and file and try to copy/move, I can select destination, but xnview copy/move only files, without folders.
Some misunderstanding: 'I'm not sure' in my previous reply meant: 'Yes I understand, the folders are not copied or moved.' But I'm still not sure whether the folders should be copied and moved:Evgeniy wrote:Folders selected with files or without it, but I can't move or copy folders in xnview.I'm not so sure with this one: Currently, when selecting all files (Menu 'Edit->Select all, or Ctrl+A) the folders are also selected. As written before people might move their folders by accident. Perhaps a question message box or a checkbox [ ] Include folders when copying/moving could help, here.

Good idea!As written before people might move their folders by accident. Perhaps a question message box or a checkbox [ ] Include folders when copying/moving could help, here.
let's skip the copying of the folders
In my opinion it's better when folders are not moved at all. It's picture manipulation software and not file manipulation. I was sure it's by design and I was (and still am) happy with this behaviour. it's much faster to do CTRL-A and perform some action being sure only pictures will be affected.

Picture = files. Files stored in folders. When I sorting photos frequently I copy and move folders. In my opinion it's better when folders are not moved at all. It's picture manipulation software and not file manipulation.
If I copy/move all pictures to existing folder then CTRL-A faster. Else - I must create folder, copy/move, delete folder.it's much faster to do CTRL-A and perform some action being sure only pictures will be affected.
