Both in browser and 'Image view' mode, there's an entry 'Copy To...', in the context menu, already. Additionally, in browser mode you can copy images using the well-known Copy&Paste keys (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V).

So I don't quite understand what is missing.

Hmmm, why not just press CTRL+C to copy to the clipboard. It's much quicker than using the mouse.
