In Total Commander, this is done via 2 extra-INI entries, one to simply enable¦disable that feature :

InplaceRename=1
Enable / disable inplace renaming when clicking twice on a name (1/0)

- The other to choose if the whole name + ext. or only the name is highlighted to rename :

RenameSelOnlyName=1¦0
"1" : Selects only the name in the inplace-rename field.
"0" : Selects the name and the extension.

- So, it might be so simple to add in that way…;)

• Simpler and better :

InplaceRename = (flag)

0 : Disabled
1 : Show & select “Name + extension”
2 : Show “Name” only
3 : Select “Extension” only

I'd prefer same dialog as in Viewer, by default, option isn't necessary IMO.

I think more important is to have selected just filename, not extension. Dialog would be easier to implement maybe, since it already exists in Viewer.
