Image Optimizing

Post by Cathy »

Hello, I just finished a website but my pictures load slow. I was told if I optimize my pictures they will load faster and I won't loss quality. I use XnView but I must admit I only have used the resizing part of it. Is their a way to compress my pictures without losing quality with XnView?

Thank You
Cathy

:D Hello !

• First, I ought say you that resizing is not a good idea to load the pictures faster, because the most times it results on a much larger size than non-resized !
- This is and "odness" which has been discussed here already, please consult the Search… When possible, you could crop the useless parts of the pics, this shall reduce the size.

• The only way to decrease the picture size should be to check the real colours amount, then to save the pics as the minimal colour depth, according to the result and the obtained look. Indeed , make copies to test, and work with these copies…

• Saving JPG in a lower quality ratio could decrease the sizes too, but naturally, you only can judge the result as "viewable" or too hugly…

 Kind regards,
Claude
