View Images from explorer problem

Post by nonick »

when i start xnview by double clicking on an image, it opens the image with a black border around it (well that's normal and not the problem). my problem is, i'd like to have the menu when i open an image by doubleclicking (like when you open an image with the built in xnview browser). already had a look at the options, i'm sure there is one but i can't find it ):
how to do that? thanks!

I think the key to your problem is setting "Start View in fullscreen" described in topic "Default of Option "Start View in Fullscreen"".

thanks, that's already better, the only problem is, that it now shows the iamge minimized i think, at least i have a picture in a window and than can choose maximize - the way it looks after that is exactly what i want it to be autoamtically/when i double clicked the file. how to do that?

Perhaps another option can help: "Tools > Options > View > Maximize View when Open" (activated).

great, now it's all working like i wanted it.
the only thing i can't understand is why this isn't the default setting. in my opinion (ok that's subjective, like every one) this makes really sense.

This option is disabled by default? I think it should be enabled too.

while having this problem i still used 1.80.x
after having solved this problem (and before that i didn't change anything at the options) i installed the current version, XnView 1.82.4.
here the problem doesn't appear, however i think it simply imports the settings from the old version (also tried uninstalling it first, but like we know most uninstalls aren't complete)?
where are the settings for xnview saved? shouldn't be hard to remove those settings and reinstall xnview to see if it's default (maybe only in newer versions?) or not.

"edit":
about the maximize option, well i think i once changed this in the hope this fixes the fullscreen without the menu. first thought you were talking about both settings, solving my problems. both seem not to be default.

I've just verified this with XnView 1.82.4: Both options are set correctly by default (i.e., "Start View in Fullscreen"" is off and "Maximize View when Open" is on).
