XnView Poll : Your Favourite Use of the Software

Post by adesigninteractive »

NOTE: I edited the Subject of this because i thought it might be interesting to resurrect this poll -- just to see if anyone else perhaps would like to contribute a vote. :)

(my inquiry below being irrelevant to the poll -- let's keep it to the poll if we may)
if you wish to search, as is one of the grand features of XnView, a vast repository of image media, on your hard drive for example, then it's easy to do with XnView by using the search feature.

XnView's search is much much better than trying to locate images in any other image utility i'm aware, but one must know how to use it! admittedly, i'm not an expert when it comes to advanced searching w/ xnview-- not to contradict what i just said, becuase i have used XnView more effectively for searching, and HAVe indeed located what i wish to find. however, i finally encountered an obstacle.

my inquiry follows:
if i wish to find mutliple images, on C:\ for example, but i don't want to use one of XnViews drop-down menu filters, but instead would like to create a filter as in
keyword: *.jpg; *.gif; *.png; *.psd; *.bmp
so that XnView will find any and all images which have those extensions, how then might i perform this search? is it currently possible? am i missing something from one of the drop-down menu options?

thank you! if there's a URL to a specific documentation about this topic (i.e. advanced search filtering), please show me.
thanks!

OR, not EXOR…

:) Hello !

- Thanks for that poll!

• However, I guess that you would have set tick-boxes (OR function) instead radio-buttons (EXclusive OR bolean), because there is a bunch of favourite functions for each user, linked ones others…

- In example, I import the clipboard, save it as BMP or else, crop the capture…
…and it's impossible to express this with your questions…

 Kind regards, Happy Easter !

hey there, thanks for sharing your XnView experience!

re: the poll-- it's a phpbb thing... you should have one at the bottom of your post / reply window. the options are quite limited-- in fact, i had to eliminate some of what i had there as i was getting a "Too many options in your poll" error. hehe. ;) hmm... maybe the mods will take your suggestion though-- however, i suppose the idea is for it to be rather simple... otherwise, it would practically have to be an open ended question.

i also thought that perhaps something like this would force both user and developer to take a very generalized look at what's going on w/ the software. in testing, or "indexing", sometimes the more limited the possible responses, the more insight you gain into the person's character / psyche. blah, blah...

ah... just for a bit o fun
:)

:) Pools with several replies per voter - using tick-boxes - are possible in phpBB, we have a lot like this on the Total Commander forum…

- So, I guess that Sören Admin might give a glance to this issue ;)

ahh, i see what you mean w/ the pool. i admin a phpbb2 myself, and by default (years ago at least), i believe even the "poll" must be added on as a plugin / extension-- 'course, by now, it probably is a default feature, they've gotten to be so advanced. maybe polling is too.

but, i'm stickin' w/ my "less is more" ideology here...
have you ever had to submit one of those "Personality Index" tests for an employer? their expected responses are usually yes / no or true / false, or open-ended one word. there's probably a greater margin for error there, but the profile of the group is perhaps generated more rapidly, thereby allowing for idividual classification to come more easily.

blah, blah-- i'm going to shut my mouth now cause i'm getting tired of myself, so i figure i'll spare the others too. hehe 8)

so, has anyone noticed my inquiry in the first post? (there, i made it bold just now)
i actually did have a question about XnView Search Function.

Ok, perhaps a good enhancement...

any new users like to cast a vote?

Post by adesigninteractive »

hi there! it's been a while since i've been to the forum. i thought it would be interesting to "bump" this topic-- to see if anyone else would like to cast a vote in this poll.

enjoy!

(edit: maybe the poll can no longer be used? i can't determine...)
