Browser thumbnails sync with image view?

Hope this makes sense.

XnView 1.82

I open a folder containing many images in the Browser.

I open a file.

Then I use the mouse wheel to go to the next file and so on in the image view, but when I return to the browser window, it is still at the first photo I opened.

In other words, is there a way to get the browser to sync to the photo I actually have open?

Hmmm.

I have that option checked, but if I open an image from the Browser view, then choose Next Image andwork my way through a lot of images, then choose the Browser tab again, it remains on the image I started with. For directories with hundreds or even thousands of images, this means I have to scroll through the thumbnails to find my place.

What I want to have happen is to return to the browser view and find the image I am currently viewing as the one highlighted.

Is there a different setting that may be interfering?

Clo has pointed to the right option, but this is sort of broken: When switching tabs, the view and the folder tree are not synched.

To be honest I'm not sure whether this ever worked when switching tabs. The tabs have been introduced, but sychronization when switching tabs has never been added.

There are some workarounds to switch from image view back to browser with sychronization, both are not too uncomfortable:
- Simply double-click on the image and browser will be opened
- Click in the browser symbol in the toolbar
- Short cut Strg+B or File > Browser
