Maximum number of files

I am trying to auto-contrast several 1000's of *.ecw files.
Because XnView 1.82.4 doesn't recurse subfolders (report "no recursing subfolders when selecting ecw files") I copied them all into one directory.

Now I can select all files from the browser window, but actually in the batch convert window it shows several 10's of files selected and not the 1000's that should be in there.

Is there a maximum number of files I can process?
