hi
but the story form scretch
i'm trying some programms to manipulate jpgs. so I used on to turn the images lossless.
after that, i usesd xnview. ( also to try) and there were some thumbnails not turned.
I tried to turn these pictures lossless, but after that, the thumbnail (later, I recogrized the embedded on ) where right, but the picture itself was turned ' to far' . - total magic
-
so I looked into FAQ and there was a thread to solve the problem, reset the orientation flag ( tools->JPEG lossless..->dialog-> only reset ) . so I did. but the embedded Thumbnail was lost!
But I think, that would be a big thing to have a thumbnail always un hand.
So I looked for a Tool to manipulate the exif-data and found EXIFER, see link one before.
Using XnView is a great thing, but sometimes using the auto exif- rotation is hmm some sort of headache.
I think if there is a filter to sort ( or only view) for auto-rotated pics, i could easily rotate a bulk of pics.
looking through 1000 pics makes the eyes tiered and some are forgotton.
so I solved all my problems with tools, maybe the problems could be solved in/with xnview.
but as newbie I didn't found.
(mea culpa)
from now on, I ONLY use xnview, so THESE problems schould never apear once more.
thanks

If I understand blueshack right, he wants to have a possibility to create the thumbnail and embed it in the JPG image. I think that recreation and updating the embedded thumbnail is very important and strongly support this request.
This is a bit related to topic Rotation for embedded thumbnail.

Yes, i've added it in next release but only if embedded thumbnail exists.helmut wrote:If I understand blueshack right, he wants to have a possibility to create the thumbnail and embed it in the JPG image.
