XnView v1.70.4 Delete key bug again!

Post by ckit »

This bug has come back again in XnView v1.70.4, this time only after viewing and deleting through the View mode and using the Delete on the right-click menu, I change to using the DEL key instead and nothing happens!

If I exit "View mode" and are back in "Browser mode" and go back into "View mode" and press DEL key on any image it works fine.

Unfortunately, I can see this :bug: will be hard to re-produce :(

After playing around a bit (about 2 minutes), I could reproduce your problem on Windows XP with XnView 1.70.4 twice.

To me it seems that the problem has no real systematic, but does occur every now and then - with the steps you described. But it's not just the DEL key which does not work anymore, for me it's all the keys, be it DEL key, Page UP, Page Down or Strg+A (for selecting).

Keyboard works fine again when
- switching to another application
- exiting view mode and opening an image, again
- minimizing and restoring window size.

I think that this is a focus problem.

Yes, certainly a focus problem. But how do you reproduce it?

I don't know if this is the case, but I noticed some crashes when deleting large images using delete key in view mode. my friend also told me that new version of XnView keeps crashing when working with large amount of data.

I've tried again and I've found a way to reproduce the problem about every third time:

XnView 1.70.4 with default settings, Windows XP, directory with about 2000 files.

1.) Start XnView
2.) Open any of the 2000 images, each about 100x50 pixels.
3.) Right click to open context menu. Wait about 2 seconds, then select 'Delete'.
4.) Confirm the question dialog with 'Yes'
--> About every fourth time, the focus is not on the XnView window but on an icon on the desktop.

If in step 3 I select the menu item quickly, the problem occurs much less often. Also, the number of files in the directory seem to matter, with about 100 image files in the directory the problem did not occur.

@ckit: Could you please verify and confirm/reject my observations?

XnView 1.70.4, Windows 2000 SP4, directory with about 150 files.

1.) Start XnView
2.) Open any of the images in Full screen
3.) Right click to open context menu. Wait about 2 seconds, then select 'Delete'.
4.) Confirm the question dialog with 'Yes'

For now everything seems to work?
At the moment I can't re-produce the bug, I'll keep toying with it :(
