I recommend installing to a different folder and it does use the same files in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\XnView

Bookmarks, New Cache Database, New Default Toolbar and XnView wallpaper files

Is this fix probably going to make it into 1.90, at this point, or has it been postponed?

No. And I wouldn't expect this bug to be fixed for 1.90 as the Viewer/Browser image zooming may be changed later on... :?
