Set as Wallpaper not only in BMP format

especially you xnview developer/maintainer

your software is really nice and i use it a lot.
I just have a suggestion regarding the "set as wallpaper functionality". I find it rather annoying that xnview converts it into BMP: that duplicates jpeg images for instance, creating useless huge files. Why not use directly the original jpeg files instead ? Windows has been supporting jpeg images as wallpaper for a while now.

No, only if you have the Active desktop, else only BMP is supported.
But yes, will be better to add jpeg...

In XP, active desktop is always on, and jpeg can always be used. In 98, you had to make sure oit was turned on before using anything other than bmp. Don't know about 2k.

My W2K3 shows bmp, gif, jpg, jpeg, dib and png as allowable formats.
However not all seem to work like jpeg when active desktop is disabled.
I tried setting a bmp with and without RLE and correct screensize and center mode. It does not really matter if active desktop is enabled or disabled, it keeps creating the html file %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop.htt which is only used for active desktop anyways.

Btw: If you have no Web tab in "customize desktop", you need to remove the NoActiveDesktop value from the registry.

On older Windowses also DIB files were supported. DIB could have some compression too I think. But I can't find an app that can create DIB files anymore.
