Hide extensions?

Post by Allekz »

Is there a way to hide known extensions in XnView Browser?

It would be very useful, especially when working on file names. When I click on any file and enables the name edition, I need to be careful not to erase the last name (.jpg, .tif, etc.), so it makes the job tedious and slow.

I think the background colors and icons are good enough to know at first sight what kind of file I got.

Any help?

I have added a dialog to rename in next release, to edit only the filename without extension...

Nice news! Thanks.

Nevertheless, I think hiding extensions is also good for concentrate the eye on the name of the files, which is almost always what a user need. It could make a clearer--and then faster--view and search of the pictures. Don't you think so?

I suggest you too this option! It would be very nice because who cares about extensions if I see the Type of an image/video. I hope it will be released soon! XnView kicks ACDSee! :P Kepp on good work!

In 1.90betas you can swap "Filename" for "Filename (without extension)" in the thumbnail options for the browser. It may or may not be in 1.84, I don't have that one around to test.
