I have some WAV files of a few seconds long which I wanted to delete in the browser quickly by pressing DEL and ENTER (for confirmation) repeatedly. Of course while deleting them it also is playing (the next?) sound.
Sometimes though it completely stalls the whole machine... wasting CPU time in kernel space. I've tried setting XnView's priority to "below normal" and I got the same result. It didn't seem to happen when I set it in "Idle" but that doesn't say much of course.
I'm running v1.84.4.
