[quote="Andi K."][quote="Lupin III."]Just add me to the list of people having the same problem.

I have exactly the same problem and WinXP errormessage like Lupin III!
I also use XnView 1.82.4de (German Version),but I have WinXPprof SP2 and all actual Patches installed.

I did also some other tests (also the one with the Cache disable, it does not work) and it is definitly the option "Read one image ahead". If this option is enabled, xnview crashes everytime I open an image from outside xnview.

Hi all - just wanted to confirm that disabling the read ahead function did solve the problem here. I have just the same configuration like Andi K. and I did also try alll the proposed workaraounds without any success. Disabling the read ahead function definitively solved my problem. Thanks to all contributors. Jörg W. from Munich/Germany

Re: XnView crashes whenever I view an image

Good afternoon! I have distinguished why XnView crashes. When in XnView it is necessary "Read one image ahead"!
The program crashes if a file was the last alphabetically or the file was one in folder.
When I have cleaned in adjustments a mark "Read one image ahead" that, at once all became good.
The program very good! Thanks!

I see the same crash on a dual-core AMD with XP. Crash goes away with unchecking 'read one image ahead'.

Same here. Win XP Pro all patched up, Portuguese Version, on a Conroe with Xnview 1.82.4

Anyway, Congrats for the program! Love it ;)

Also crashes for me (fresh install of XP, SP2, fully updated with all M$ updates) when I double-click on image from Explorer. Turning off the "read one image ahead" option alleviates this crashing.
