Need "Auto Image Size"-"Fit window to image a

Post by pstein »

I selected "Auto Image Size" -> Fit window to image" but
when I open a large image (larger then the XnView Window)
then this image is downsized to the current XnView window size. Ok.
However the window size of XnView window is NOT adjusted.
Hence there are grey areas on the XnView window background.

I would appreciate an option with the following behavior:

a) If image to load is SMALLER than the default XnView window dimensions
then display the image in full size and crop all grey background (resize temporarily !!! XnView window dimensions to those of the loaded image)
The default XnView window dimensions should be remembered (for possible other images).

+

b) If image to load is GREATER than the default XnView window dimensions
then downsize the image and crop the grey XnView background bar at top+bottom or left+right. Resizing the XnView window is not necessary in this case.

Is there an option for this (I did not found one) ?

Do you have tried 'Force xnview to fit image'?

There is no sub menu 'Force xnview to fit image' in menu
View->Auto Image Size.

I am using v1.82.4

Is there a newer version?

It is in Options...View>[x]Force Xnview to fit image
It is normally greyed when an unrelated option is being used.

OK but this is not completely what I need (and meant).

The only option which offers 'Force XnView to Fit Image'
is when I select 'Fit window to image'
Ok lets assume I choose this combination and then:

When I load an image of size 1680x 1260 and my screen
is only 1440 x 1080 then XnView displays the full picture
WITH sliders (!). No resize took place.

I need a 'fit image to window, large only' +
'Force XnView to Fit Image (on the length OR height only)' combination
