Reqst: Move Mouse = Scroll

Post by JohnFredC »

Many web browsers have a mode (originating with IE, I think) where clicking the middle mouse button enables a scrolling mode where scrolling is proportional to mouse position "away" from center... the further from screen center you move the mouse, the faster the screen scrolls in the direction you moved the mouse.

This "proportional scrolling" behavior is absolutely fantastic for very large images (my latest Positano pano jpg is 20,000 x 6,000 pixels, much larger than my 1920x1200 display).

1. No mouse buttons to press: just move the mouse. Stressless!
2. Scroll randomly over the image quickly or slowly. No waiting, no buttons!

For instance, I prefer to use Opera(!) to view extremely large images because it supports "proportional scrolling". Try opening a very large graphics file in Opera. Switch to Opera's full-screen mode. Then click the middle mouse button once to put the mouse into "proportional scrolling" mode.

Please implement something similar in XNView!

Thanks for listening!
