b1: Jpeg2000 slider in export doesn't work

Post by Drahken »

I just discovered this bug, but it exists in the alpha version as well. Open an image, open the export dialog, select jpeg2000, choose the quality option, now try sliding the slider. Nothing. The slider slides, but doesn't change anything. Clicking the up/down arrows next to the number works, and setting the number manually works, but the slider doesn't.

Drahken, I've just tried to reproduce this bug but failed - it works for me.

In your bug report you speak of "JPG2000", I assume you mean "JPG" tab. I guess you are aware that there is a short delay before the preview is updated.

Could you please provide more info to reproduce the problem?

I confirm: no auto-refresh is done when moving the quality slider of the JPEG 2000 tab (xjp2.dll plugin installed) in Export.

I realize this is already in "fixed in beta2", but I thought I should add a couple things, unless a new thread would be better.

First, unlike the jpeg tab, the j2k tab updates all quality (and size etc) changes immediately, which isn't so fun when you have a large image and are trying to type several numbers. The short delay on the jpeg tab would help a lot.

Second, I'm not sure but I think greyscale/color quality scales might be broken in j2k. In color, transparent is around q70, in greyscale it's around q90, with the same (grey) image. The filesizes are about the same at both; or about 3x difference when both are at q70. I realize this might be a limitation of jasper and nothing you can do for it; oddly enough leadtools has the exact same problem.

Jpeg transparent is around q90, lurawave j2k transparent is around q90, so maybe this should be the same; but I always hated lurawave's complete lack of flexibility at the high end (2 steps goes from big to huge to gigantic), so I hope q70 is the proper scale. Most images do hit saturation around 92-95 this way, but a sufficiently complex one will go up to 100. (Too bad the same rescaling can't be done for jpeg, but that's another rant.)

Very mild weirdness: Any quality above 100 makes it freak out and give very, very low qualities, with sizes around 1k. It's a neat way of going below the "minimum" size! But probably not wanted. For instance, type in 700.

No...when I say JPEG2000, I mean JPEG2000. Perhaps this tab doesn't appear unless you have a plugin (I tend to lose track of which formats require a plugin and which don't, although JPEG2000 seems a common enough one to be included without a plugin). http://allspark.net/cypherswipe/JP2Ktab.jpg

However, since this thread is now in the "fixed in beta 2" section, I guess it's a moot point.
