B1: LWF JP2000 plugin missing "quality" setting.

Post by foxyshadis »

I have the photoshop plugin, and it has lossless, ratio, size, and quality, whereas xnview has only lossless, ratio, and size. Is this a limitation of the plugin you're using, or was the option just missed? (It's present in LWF format, oddly.)

But you have Quality for Jasper or LWF JPEG2000 Plugin in Option/Write...

I guess mine must be outdated, since it isn't present. Is there a more up-to-date filter collection available? (It's dated 2/4/2004, brought over from the old version, wherever I happened to get it for that one.)

There is a newer JPEG2000 plugin (Xjp2.dll - 01/02/2006 - Jasper) in the Plugin package. Download it here.
It has: Lossless, Quality, Rate, Size settings.

I normally wouldn't even consider Jasper, as it failed my quality testing some time back, but whatever XnView has is significantly better. Must have changed since then. It seems to easily match Lurawave or Leadtech (not available for Xn), so I guess Lurawave problems don't matter anymore. Plus it's in export! Too bad it's basically dead, I wonder if it'd be even better with current development.
