XNView pauses/hangs during browsing - re-reads directory

Post by Pat D »

Currently running version 1.82.4 of XNView and it have some pausing/hanging during browsing in the viewer window. I'm running a file monitoring utility and it appears during these hangs, XNView is re-reading the entire directory of files. If I have a directory of 1000 files, it can take 5 seconds roughly.

Anything I should look for? I've playing with the cache settings and that doesn't seem to help. I'm also using the registry for saving settings, not the ini file. Anti-virus is turned off for testing. Just not sure why after every few files, XNView needs to re-read the entire directory and hang up for a few seconds.

Thanks.

Could you try without 'Read ahead' and 'cache behind'?

Do you have the problem if you have only 'Read ahead'?
