Start batch convert with selected file in viewer
In view mode or fullscreen, <ctrl> starts up batch convert without any filenames in list. I think it should start with selected file in list (it does this in browser).

Strange that this thread appear in changelog, convert and slideshow from browser use Option/General/Misc.marsh wrote:This topic is identified in changelog. It isn't fully implemented yet in beta-1. Selected file in viewer does not appear.
Selected folders now appear in list!
So you would like to see opened file in slide or convert dialog by default?
Pierre.
Mainly I work with the browser, so I cannot really say what makes sense, here.xnview wrote:So you would like to see opened file in slide or convert dialog by default?
My understanding is:
Putting the file currently viewed into the list might be logical. But this might be a pain in the a.. for those users which use "View" mode, only since they might be forced to remove this file all the time.

Hello !
• Like helmut points out, sometimes it's useful to start the batch from the current file in View - I need it -,
and sometimes it could be an annoyance.
• Hence, I thought that a subsidiary small arrow button beside the "Convert" button could solve the issue.
- Just showing a two-entry menu-list like :

• What do you think ?

I just noticed the following in Beta1:
- Menu>Tools>'Batch convert' opens dialog WITH current viewed file.
- <ctrl+U> open dialog WITHOUT any file.
Is that wanted or... ?
- Emptying the dialog takes only 1 click ("Remove all") which is not that bad.
- Options>General>Misc>"if no files are selected, use following files for action" may be enhanced to handle this situation.

Hello !
• Your solution needs that the users -all- know and use the keys, that's not my case…
- Moreover - even documented - this is a trick, and I guess that the mini-menu from the arrow-button is more user-friendly and understandable.
- Accuracy : I see the entry “Browse…” like :
1. Opens the batch dialogue,
2. Opens the tree to browse
as one go…
Well, now just wait for the Pierre's and other users' opinions

Hi Claude,
Actually, I didn't suggest any solution: I just noticed what is currently implemented in beta 1.
My opinion is that opening 'Batch convert' with the Menu or with the Shortcut should give exactly the same thing to be coherent... and there is a bug here (I did not quite understand if this was the issue discussed here...
).
And I actually find your button+list idea interesting.

2 ways…

I mean : The implemented solution isn't satisfactory from my point of view.
- It needs to use two different ways to get the tool either with the current file, or without the current file. It's twisted !

- This's not handy, and to add a 2-line sub-menu (or list from the button) is not a big deal…
- Just my 0.02 €…

They both open without file in Beta2. Not sure if this is the best solution, but at least they behave similarly...Olivier_G wrote:I just noticed the following in Beta1:
