I've tried with several different situations, assuming it must be my own mistakes, but I can't get xnview to rename any files in the browser. I press F2, enter a new name (same ext), and get an error messagebox: "Error renaming the file." I ruled out spaces in the path, and can't figure out what else it might be. I can definitely tell you that I have 8.3 filenames turned off in ntfs, if that matters.
I'll try it on another system tomorrow to see if it's just mine, somehow.
B1: File renaming doesn't work
A bug, but I think Pierre has fixed this now:

For me, this bug has come back in Beta 3 with two folders...
C:\Downloads -> contains folders and images
C:\Video Clips -> contains video clips AVI, MOV etc.
Steps:
- Open XnView in Browser mode
- Click on Folder -> Right-Click Rename
- Add say a number to the end of the Folder name and we get "Error renaming the file"
- This only seems to happen with folders with images or videos other folders can be renamed with no problems.

Are you sure that you don't watch a video while renaming?ckit wrote:For me, this bug has come back in Beta 3 with two folders...

Pierre.
No, I wasn't watching any videos or displaying any pictures other than what is already in the preview pane.
I forgot to mention, I was trying to rename these folders in the Folders\Files area NOT the Folder Tree.
I just tried reproducing this bug on Win2000 Pro SP4 and I couldn't.

Found it!!!
Sorry this isn't a bug but a conflict between XnView and xplorer2 pro.
The fix is to use "Don't lock browsed folder" option in "xplorer2 pro"
