Hi all, I have been following the forum but not been involved obviously
I have a zip file (made with Cobian backup 7) with subfolders and I have checked 'folder' in file list and I have looked at all the threads about archives here...beta3 crashes when I navigate to it in browser mode and click on a subfolder to see its jpg contents
Sorry if I shouldn't be posting here (since it is closed/solved)

Text file and Archive bug

I am unable to reproduce your problem with beta 3. Try downloading either (or both) of the samples I posted and see if they cause the same problem. If not, then the problem likely lies either in your zip file or the files within it. In such case, try creating a simple archive with just 1 folder and only a few images and see if the problem persists. Also, try unzipping some of the images to a folder, then opening them form there, see if you still get a crash.
Oh the feuhrer, oh the feuhrer, oh the feuhrer's nipples bonk!
Thanx Drahken, yours, few images here and unzipping few here work fine.
So I guess I am left with...what is wrong with the Cobian Backup created zip file or maybe there are some limits on folder number and size for XN-View archive viewing (the one giving the problem here has a 114 pictures over a few folders, the folders also contain a few .txt and other files)

Perhaps it's the size of the file, how big is it?
Also, it could very well be those ".txt and other files" xnview can't open txt files (in fact, it won't even launch them in notepad, it just gives a "format could not be determined" error [in view mode, in browser mode it launches notepad]). Try making another copy of that archive, but without the txt files and other files, just images & folders.
edit: BINGO! It's the text files. I added a text file into the folder in my one test sample, and it had a very odd effect. When opened in xnview, the folder inside is duplicated. Opening the one copy works fine, but opening the other causes a crash with an error about "memory could not be "read"".
Here's the new test sample:
