Find similar lists same file twice.

Post by helmut »

When searching for similar files the result dialog shows the image file A as result on the left side and on the right side the same file A. From what I can see the problem occurs only with "Include subfolders" activated.

To reproduce:
1.) Browse a folder with some subdirectories and images in it (not too deep structure).
2.) Choose "Tools > Find similar..."
3.) Activate "Include subfolders"
4.) Start search with "Find"
--> After a while the result dialog will appear. The same file is listed as similar file although filename and path is the same (Bug :bug:)

Gaga function !

Post by Clo »

:) Hi !

• I got this, yes. But the function seems totally broken :

• Making some extra tests (after closing¦restarting), I got the “Compare…” window as the result,
showing couples of files quite different !

I search files with similar filename. This is what the result looks like:
Image

As you can see the same image file is listed twice. As written above this only happens when using "Include subfolders".

Really strange, i can't reproduce this bug...
The showed file has a duplicate in a subfolder?

SAME !

Post by Clo »

:) Pierre, like you can see on the helmut's pic above, this is exactly the same path ! Not a dupe in a sub-folder !

- This occurs here also, in the same situation…

Yes, the same file is listed in a subfolder named "500 images". I've just renamed the file in the subfolder, then the problem no longer occurs. You are on the right track... :-)

Here is what I understood:
- An image has a duplicate in a subfolder.
- Helmut forgot that duplicate and reports he sees the image reported with a duplicate (as it should be). He thinks there is a bug. But there are actually 1 duplicate and XnView finds it.
=> I don't see any bug and I believe this thread should be closed, Right?
