Thumbnail List not displayed on slow network folder
Complicated to describe this bug that exists in every 1.90 I have tested. I have set to open XnView in Edit View, and the browser diplays the list as Thumbnails with Labels. Now try the following:
- Open an image in a folder with lots of images on a slow network drive (e.g. via WLAN) -> Edit View opens.
- Press Ctrl-B to switch to browser
Now normally the list with all thumbnails opens. In this case however no thumbnails are shown, only the parent folder's icon.

Yes, very strange that you have not the last backslash... But can't reproduce it.negg wrote:Complicated to describe this bug that exists in every 1.90 I have tested. I have set to open XnView in Edit View, and the browser diplays the list as Thumbnails with Labels. Now try the following:

You have always this problem?
Pierre.
Re: THumbnail List not displayed on slow network folder
Yes, I always have, its 100% reproducable with WLAN_g on my notebook, no matter if I open a folder from the notebook on my desktop-computer or from the desktop-computer on my notebook. I guess it depends on the network speed. Hard to simulate, I know. But very annoying.xnview wrote:Yes, very strange that you have not the last backslash... But can't reproduce it.

Maybe you can simulate by putting a hard load on your network by copying a very big file or something like that.

Re: THumbnail List not displayed on slow network folder
Pierre I appreciate your efforts. I get the last backslash-missing path immediately when I press Ctrl-B, yes.xnview wrote:I've tested, and can't reproduce itIn the title bar, when you click on browse or Ctrl+B you see immediately ..\menu_lang1 not ..\menu_lang1\???
I'll do more testing and will try to give you more info what exactly happens. Please let me know if there is a debug output or something I can use to give you more info in that issue.

No, but if you can't find more info, i'll send you a debug versionnegg wrote:Pierre I appreciate your efforts. @negg: Could you do a test for me which is NOT related to your current problem:
1.) View images and files in detail view (View > View as > Thumbnails)
2.) Browse a folder on the network with files.
-> Does it take long till the files are shown or are they shown immediately?
(You can reply here, I'll split this post and your reply into another topic, later).

Re: THumbnail List not displayed on slow network folder
And do you have the same problem with 1.82.4?
Pierre.
Folder with ~ 800 images (mostly digicam images about 1.5 MB), folder was opened before, typical WLAN speed around 15 kbit: it took about 5 seconds until the thumbnails popped up for a splitsecond, disappeared again for about 2 seconds and were finally displayed. No heavy network activity during that time, so I guess the thumbnails came from cache.helmut wrote:@negg: Could you do a test for me which is NOT related to your current problem:

This test was done opening an image by doubleclicking in explorer, then pressing ctrl-b in xnview to switch to thumbnail list. I noticed that the list of thumbnails appears almost immediately when I already am in the browser (in the parent folder) and open the folder containing the lots of images there.
Hope this helps!

Re: THumbnail List not displayed on slow network folder
No, I don't. Works fine there. More infos:xnview wrote:And do you have the same problem with 1.82.4?
- Can't reproduce the error on WLAN currently (noticed this while doing the test for helmut). Maybe the speed is too good here right now.
- Tried on a VPN over 2 MBit DSL, error appears. Noticed there however, that the last backslash appears in the application titlebar for a splitsecond, then disappears there, too.
