Icons go into mourning still !

Post by Clo »

—> Pierre

:) Good morning,

• We have 1.90 RC1 now, with a lot of cosmetical thingies, but it's still impossible to display icons in View and in a board of thumb nails properly, still that awful black background…

• That's really disappointing… I ought to resign XnView to display icons even in Total Commander now.
- The most icons I draw¦use¦store are 24 BPP. A trick might be found to view them correctly, I guess.

- This :bug: is there for ages…

By the same way, is it possible to make the b(l)ackground for other files with transparency (Ex : Gif) modifiable so that the user can see if the picture is always correct with different backgrounds.

RHE suggestion for this…

:) Hello Paul !
By the same way, is it possible to make the b(l)ackground for other files with transparency (Ex : Gif) modifiable so that the user can see if the picture is always correct with different backgrounds.
• I think that THIS PROPOSAL could do the trick…

RC1, not very better…

Post by Clo »

—> Pierre

:) Hello !

• Thank you to have attempted some improvements, according to that we said out the forum for the 24 BPP icons and the transparency thingy…

• With RC1, enabling the option the display is correct in View (please, see the Paul's wish above about the View BG and the link I gave in my answser…), but :

1. All 24 BPP icons are marked “32 BPP” everywhere, that indeed is quite wrong…

2. In a board of thumb nails, they are still black

3. Same in the preview, black:(

4. When blowing up such an icon in View, the black BG comes back as soon as the scale reaches 105% (I use a 1% step).
It stays beyond that value, and moreover the zoom-in function is quite perturbed, it seems
(the display jumps to an upper scale value after several 1% steps only).
- It occurs as well with the H. Quality enabled or not…
- The transparency is not restored when coming back to scale 1:1…

:?:

AS is not IS

Post by Clo »

:) Again…

• "Loaded AS" is not they ARE 32 BPP, so all info shown for the 24 BPP icons is wrong !

• What about the other points ?
- I have set the display as 32 BPP in Windows, then the Preview is getting right,
but the thumb nails remain bad with the black BG…

Another snag…

Post by Clo »

—> Pierre

:) Hello !

• I just discovered another issue with the icons display :

- I've a small collection of 21² - 24 BPP icons I use in the file-lists of Total Commander, that works fine in this programme.

- In a board of thumb nails, these icons are displayed with a black BG - like the others -
but absolutely not viewable in Preview and in normal View, like shown below with the same outside blue BG:

   Image

- I tested with the transparency option “ON” and “OFF”, also with the screen colour-depth as 16 and 32 BPP,
that doesn't matter, same result.

- I send you this icon <JPG-type> as a sample…

¤ Else : Please, could you tell me if you have found any solution about the point #4 in my last but one message above ?

And the rest ?

Post by Clo »

—> Pierre
:) Hello !

• Thanks ! I'll retest that in the next RC.

I wrote above…
4. When blowing up such an icon in View, the black BG comes back as soon as the scale reaches 105% (I use a 1% step).
It stays beyond that value, and moreover the zoom-in function is quite perturbed, it seems
(the display jumps to an upper scale value after several 1% steps only).
• Please, could you fix up this issue too? Thank you to try…

Win XP ?

Post by Clo »

:) Hello !

• Did you test under Win XP-Pro ?

- You must set a 1% zoom-step
- This occurs in View only ! In Preview, it works.

• I can make a video if needed…
