There are a few minor suggestions/problems i'd like to report considering media files:
If you preview media files, and decide to mute them, the setting is not retained (like, if you watch a muted video preview, and then select a different video file the icon still displays the crossed out speaker but the sound is actually playing). It would be nice, if the muted status would be a permanent setting and thus remembered for all files. Why? If i have Winamp cranked up real loud and click on a video file, i regulary get shocked when a video starts playing
The volume for media files is also not remembered, and thus will default back to full volume for every new file you select. It would be nice, if the volume setting was remembered for all files.
If the preview area is too small, the video controls get covered up. Maybe the controls shouldn't be centered below the preview area but left aligned, so you're always able to reach the start and stop buttons. Either that or put the basic controls in the middle.
That's it for now. I'll let you know once i figure out any more issues.

I agree. I've got small preview area too.
Maybe some universal controls independent on video or preview area size would be the best

Sure, but i tried to keep the changes as simple as possible so it's more likely to get fixed.
Patience, sometimes it takes time before you get a response.

Yeah well, my last reply in here was on September 4th. So i think i am patient.
But while we're at it: it would also make more sense if the thumbnail preview for video files would not display the first (key)frame, but some frame inside the video. A lot of video files' first frames are black and that doesn't tell you anything about the file.

I don't like your tone.
You're right about the first frame of video's being black, however it would be difficult for Pierre to know which frame to use as a thumbnail instead even if it were random theres still a chance it would be black.

I was just answering your remark about me not being patient, nothing else. I'm just pointing out suggestions and problems to help making the program get better. So don't get me wrong, i respect and appreciate the work they're doing. Hell, they even fixed the folder descriptions on my request.
But any other frame still has a better chance of not being blacck. ACDSee's media preview for example has the option of defining where to get the preview frame from by setting a percentage. Like 1% into the file or 50%.

Hmmm, very interesting.
I personally hate ACDSee but I had no idea they had taken things that far.
All we can do is wait and see what Pierre has to say about it.

I sent email with some bugs and suggestions to Pierre few months ago and still no response, so who is patient?
Some of these suggestions / features are already implemented, also some new that I put here, but I don't know if I can put some of these "old" suggestion here - can I, Pierre?

Good suggestion, but this is image viewer so there are more important things to do earlier...

Sorry but i received many email, so sometimes i lost some of them.

No problem

Thank you, too. But that suggestion wasn't even this threads primary intend. So i'd like to know if sometime in the future i can expect you people to do something about the stuff i mentioned in my very first post in this thread. If you don't, that's fine. I'd just like to know, so i can look for alternatives instead.
Sounds arrogant? I'm sorry, but nothing's worse than a program telling you what to do instead of the user telling the program. But then again, you can't please everyone.

Ok, i'll add it

Hum, but if the controls are left aligned, it's strange??

Thanks a lot!

Yeah, it is kinda strange since you wouldn't be able to reach the volume slider without resizing the preview area. But IMHO the play and stop controls are more important, so i thought left aligning them altogether is an easy fix. If you can think of a better way, then do it or leave it be. That part isn't too important really.
One last thing: It's kinda strange that you only get a stillscreen preview for media files in thumbail mode. Isn't it possible to get a stillscreen in the preview area, if you disabled playing video files? Just seems logical to me.
Greets
Danny
p.s.: Thanks again. I know it's hard to help everyone when you only got 2 hands.

Sorry i don't understand. Stillscreen preview??
You don't want playing the movie?
