Should that work yet?
I can confirm that the 'Shell integration' does not appear to work in Windows Vista. Have you determined if there is any difference in Vista?

Xnview crashes imediatelly after starting it on Vista
Hi,
- Vista Business (English) 32bit on AMD64bit (Athlon 3000+ SingleCore)
- XnView v1.90.2 (Complete version)
Xnview crashes after 1 or 2 seconds after starting it.
Xnview window is opened, then Tip of the day pops up. And after a second or two Windows display error message thet Xnview crashed and ask me if I want to report it to Microsoft.
I wanted to change the settings in xnview.ini but there is no such a file on my HDD.
Is there any workaround? (Can I create xnview.ini file manually? In what directory should it be?)
Thanks for any advice...

Re: Xnview crashes imediatelly after starting it on Vista
I've found the problem - Xnview starts and opens some directory by default (sorry don't know exactly what dir - it always crashed before I was able to find out)wazzu wrote:Hi,

Xnview crashes after 1 or 2 seconds after starting it.
After I changed "Start in" directory (in properties of Xnview shortcut in Start menu), it starts without problems and is not crashing any more.
This may be helpfull for some guys with same problem...
I downloaded & installed the 'Shell Extension' installer and now Shell integration works fine. Maybe I downloaded the XnView version that didn't include the Shell Extension previously. I'll report back if I see the problem again. - rprpertusio wrote:Hello xnview, xnview wrote:Yes, but perhaps there is some change, i'll check...Drago wrote:I'm using Windows Vista Enterprise Edition (x32). Well, I've tried all I know but it still doesn't work.
It crashes about 1, 2 seconds after starting.
I've deleted all registry keys, restarted windows, installing XNview shell extension alone, changing startup folder (it doesn't change, no matter what startup folder I chose) and there's no "xnview.ini" on my computer.
Can someone send it to me??
I'm using Vista Ultimate 64 on a AMD 3.6 dual core

Thanks for the quick reply.xnview wrote: No xnview.ini????? Do you use an user account or admin account?
In my pc there's 3 user accounts, and my account has admin rights.
It worked for some time, when I've first installed, but I didn't like because it was Portuguese from Portugal, not Brasilian Portuguese, so i renamed the language dll hoping the program language become English, and it crashed, so I renamed back but it crashed again and again.
Here I have UAC and security center disabled.
Is something I did wrong that caused it's crash??
EDIT
I found the INI file, changed it like says above, but nothing changed, renamed and still nothin, keeps crashing at startup.

xnview crashes on start in Vista
I concur- the program tries to start for some reason in the "c:\windows\system32" directory. In your xnview shortcut link, change the "start in" (which is blank) to "C:\" Make sure to include the ""
This completely solved all of the crashing issues
