Something is mis-behaving.
I've got five pictures I want in a specific order, so in the browser, I rename the files:
1.jpg
2.jpg
3.jpg
4.jpg
5.jpg
(The pictures were taken in that time order, 5.jpg being the last photo taken)
I then control click them and create a contact sheet, (1 column x 5 rows) but for some reason, no matter how I name them, they appear on the contact sheet in this order:
5.jpg
4.jpg
3.jpg
2.jpg
1.jpg
I've tried naming A, B, C, D, E with the contact sheet displaying E, D, C, B, A.
Tried shift selecting, without any difference. Tried sorting by name and name (numeric) with no luck.
The only way I could get a "pseudo" contact sheet was to use the "Create Strip of Images..." feature, which doesn't let me create bordering.
Can anyone else verify this behavior??
Using XnView v. 1.90.3
Windows XP Pro v. 2002 Service Pack 2
Thanks,
Drew
Contact Sheet file order problem

XnView already has so many options compared to other similar software. Any more options may make the program unwieldy, as complexity increases in geometric proportion to available options. Also please remember the multi-OS, multi language environment XnView positioned itself. I have a feeling that even some of the less sought after options may be integrated/ removed.Troken wrote:If it is confusing, maybe it would be good to have an extra option in the contact sheet dialog, where you can enter the sorting method, including "as in browser" or something?
As far as the present issue is concerned, user may first visit the browser view and sets his choices including sort order, size etc., and go to Contact sheets (or any other outputs) and the selected product is delivered as set in the browser view. Here we may not have any options again to reverse the browser selected sort order, size etc.
Thanks for your time.
I am a lazy person, always searching for ways to avoid work and still manage the show !

I was expecting the order to be in the order the files were selected, so I wouldn't have to rename the files in advance.Troken wrote:If it is confusing, maybe it would be good to have an extra option in the contact sheet dialog, where you can enter the sorting method, including "as in browser" or something?
I fought with this behavoir through many versions of XnView.
It should behave in the same fashion as adding files to the slide show and Strip of Images... interface.
Imho,
