I just installed 1.90.2 and the browser feature to sort on width or height does not work. If I select 'Image Width' or 'Image Height' on the Sort drop-down menu, the option is not selected - the sort field remains as previously set and no re-ordering of the file list happens.

Did you upgrade from a previous version? You might want to delete xnview.ini and the cache just in case it's a rogue setting causing problems. The sorting works fine on everything I work with, but that's on XP. Is this with specific file types, or all types? I assume all if it's not getting set at all. Hmm.
Someone else with 2k will surely chime in soon to confirm, if it's a general problem.

Problem with sort by width
First, can I say a big thank you. It's the first time I used this forum and I just wasn't expecting such a fast and helpful response!
To answer some questions:
Yes, I upgraded from an earlier version (1.80 I think), after running the Uninstall program. (In the the older version, immediately before upgrading, I could sort on width by clicking on the Properties column header in the Browser window.)
The behaviour seems to happen with all folders/ files. I tried with several different folders containing TIFs, JPGs etc.
I'm away from my PC now so can't check the Browser options you mentioned. I'll check those, when I'm back in then try a clean install after deleting the Cache and .ini file. If still no joy, I'll post some screen-shots to illustrate.
Thanks again for your help.

OK. I did some further checks:
Options... Browser>File List>[Misc]>Scan file headers in folders = 'always'
was already set.
I uninstalled XnView, deleted the .ini file and reinstalled. Same problem.
To illustrate, I took some screen-shots of the following sequence:
1. <View> <Sort_by> <Name>
2. <View> <Sort_by> <Width>
3. Click on Properties column header.
You can see the results here:
http://universalconstant.com/sort_by_name.jpg
http://universalconstant.com/sort_by_width.jpg
http://universalconstant.com/click_prop ... column.jpg
As you can see, View/Sort by/Name works correctly.
View/Sort by Width has no effect, leaving the list sorted by name
Clicking on Properties header correctly sorts the list by width.
Yesterday when I tried this, clicking on Properties had no effect. Since then I rebooted, cleared .ini and reinstalled. Some part of that has got working the sort by clicking on Properties header, so I can now do what I want to.
But View/Sort by/Width still does not work. Same goes for View/Sort by Height. When I attempt to select either of those, the radio button does not 'stick'; on the next View/Sort by attempt, the radio button is still in the last selected (working) option, e.g. Name.
