quickly add iptc-caption

Post by markusk »

is there a way to quickly add iptc(-caption) in xnview?

what i would need would be a one-keystroke-solution, meaning:
- view image (fullscreen, browser, zoomed, whatever..)
- hit hotkey
- (input-popup opening)
- type in caption
- hit enter, popup closing (possibly switch to next image)

is there any as simple feature i've overlooked implemented yet or is there a way to write a plugin to do it that way?

thanks for any input,
markus.

Perhaps a 'set comment' to set iptc caption too, no??

It's a suggestion :-) To know if i add 'set for iptc caption too' in 'Set comment' is a good idea.

ah.. so it's rather been a question..

well i can't really tell, as i still can't find a "set comment"- function, don't know if it's got a hotkey or if it works in all modes .. ..

if you are thinking about implementing it, it might be worth considering or planning to make it configurable, cause others might want to use it to write it into a different, it's just my current application where i need it to write into the caption-field..

thanks, markus.

ok.. found "set comment", in a newer version than i'm using.. still having an older version installed on my workstation, where the "keep zoomed" is working as i need it (which isn't the case in the latest version, see http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=6445)

so, "set comment" doesn't have a hotkey currently, but guess that's the least problem to implement. but it only works in browser-mode as far as i can tell, i would rather need it in viewer/fullscreen, also while keeping zoom.. the use would be to see (rather small) identification-data on the photos and put that into the iptc-caption.
the basic concept of writing into "comment" (where is that stored?) and then copy into iptc would be fine, but of course without the extra step it would be even cooler..

thanks, markus.
