'Grab hand' in thumbnail view

Post by LastNinja9 »

This is the best software I've come across in a while ! I've used ACDSee for several years, but XnView is the killer !!

1.How about mouse hot spots in the thumbnail view ? At the top and bottom for scrolling, like in a RTS game. With different speeds depending on how far the cursor is from the edge.
I would love such a smooth 'slow to fast' scroll feature.

Or maybe it is possible to SHIFT+RMB, and get a 'grab hand' in the thumbnail view. Where you can 'grab' any part and scroll up/down. And maybe it can continue scrolling at your input speed, something like in Google Earth where you 'send it off scrolling'. Wow, that would be neat !

While I am at it, SHIFT+LMB could be for selection (that rectangle thing) from anywhere within the thumbnail view, and not only from the right.

...uhm when I come to think about it, maybe not 'SHIFT' but some other key. ALT perhaps.

2.Is it possible to rate images in full screen view ?

3.If space is 'next image', shift+space could be previous image.

Anyway, thanks for this amazing software ! :bugconfirmed:

2. Yes, but only in the "Browser fullscreen", go to browser and press F11, check the menu for the shortcuts (Ctrl+Numpad 0-5 and Ctrl+Alt+Numpad 0-5, T to tag). In options > fullscreen > show info add following to show the rating status in fullscreen:

<Tag> <Rating> <Color>

3. I agree, Backspace is not very handy, Space is rather for a left hand, but a mouse wheel is much better IMHO, try it, or Page up/down, if you§re using a wheel to zoom, check the mouse shortcuts here.

Ahh, I see ctrl+num 0-9 is used for brightness/contrast/gamma, which is great too. ;D

4. How about interpolating between the zoom steps ? So that if you have large zoom steps, you would get a smooth transition between them. If you catch my drift ? (A slow smooth automatic zoom, between your manual zoom inputs). Optional perhaps.

5. If I use the 'grab hand' while zoomed in a photo, it would be nice if the hand didn't try to 'stick' to the last position while zooming in and out (scrolling with the hand at the same time). It jumps all over the place.

EDIT Maybe the problem is that the hand stops when it reaches the edge of the screen (it's not really a problem, it's like that in most other software). It would be great if you could continue scrolling without the boundaries of the screen edge.

Again, the 'grab hand' in the thumbnail/browser view is the ultimate thing for me. Since I have several hundred thousands of images to scroll through. And it would be a whole lot of fun that way !
Perhaps it is hard to implement, but then again I am not a programmer ;D

Tnx.

Sorry for that ;(
I was just walking on the clouds when I found this amazing software. When I discovered I could post suggestions I just went crazy. Sry.

I guess I can't say that YOU stole my idea, considering you posted that in 2005 (!). ;D

My ONE suggestion would be the first one. The 'grab hand' in the browser view (would be cool). But then again, maybe I should keep my stupid suggestions to my self.

No matter, it is already a fantastic software. One I intend to use.
