Selected movie file can't delete

Post by Nutznieser »

Hallo

If I select a movie file, i can't delete it in the browser view. I tryed it with *.mov files. I haven't test it with other video files. With picture files I had not problems.

I work with XnView 1.91.3 and with WinXP Home/Professional.

:) Hello !

• I tested with an *.AVI file ~ 5MiB, it's deleted immediately here in the Browser.

- Note : Using the “Remove” button of the small tool-bar, the file is totally deleted definitely (it does't land in the Recycle Bin) !

Yes it's right. I just tryed it. With *.avi files I have no problems. But *.mov files you can't delete, if they are selected.

You can set it in the options dialog => General/File operations/Delete to recycle bin (check or uncheck).

:) Again-again…

• I searched for a *.mov file here, and found a single one, I made a copy in an empty folder
and tried to delete it in the same way than above.
- In the browser, the file disappears immediately.
- Checking the folder in T.C., the file is still in the list, but making a refresh, I could notice that it's really suppressed…
You can set it in the options dialog => General/File operations/Delete to recycle bin (check or uncheck).
- Yes, but here it's always unticked, I keep my INI through the versions, and finally I don't remember which is the default. :P
My “Recycle Bin” is always empty !

I think it differs based on the codec inside the .mov and the decoders used to preview it. Some will lock the video when opened. If you turn preview off entirely, or set it to not preview videos, or just change codecs, you should be able to delete it.
