Paste compressed screenshot to Outlook?

Post by bohiti »

Is there any way to copy an image (like a cropped portion of a screenshot taken with PrintScreen) in XnView and paste it into Outlook, and have it be compressed? When I do this, my resulting emails are megabytes in size, and the recipient never likes that. I'd rather not save to JPG and attach the file.

There's a similar request in the Irfanview forums: http://irfanview-online.com/vb/showthread.php?t=198, but the responses aren't very helpful.

I know this feature is possible. At a previous employer we had a screenshot utility installed on our PCs that allowed us to compress images on the clipboard and paste into emails that would be mere kilobytes.
Thoughts? Thanks.

Yes it's perhaps possible to send picture in jpeg format, i must search...
But why do you want that? It's easy to save the screenshot before...

Thank you for any research done.

I make this request because it is faster to not save the file, and so I don't have to delete all those files after I save them.

I think this would be a great idea for
- an additional function in XnView or
- a kind of "standalone-plugin" for Outlook.

The usage of "make print screen - copy/paste to Outlook - send E-mail" wastes a lot of disk- and E-Mailspace, especially in great companies.
