How speed up file list scrolling with details?

We have project folders where is hundreds of files. Mostly .dwg (Autocad) and .sldasm, .sldprt and .slddrw (SolidWorks).

Scrolling with mouse wheel is really slow. How this could be set a lot faster, which options affects to this? We dont't need thumbnails (can't see anything anyway, so small) when details is selected.

We are planning to buy 20+ licences, but if this is so slow, we don't use XnView.

We are planning to use this for replacing Windows browser, because here we can give descriptions to folders also, just because of that.
