Exclude folders from the database

Post by Lapinoo »

There are several folders I don't want XnView to index (and create thumbnails) for performance reasons.

My image collection is already big enough so that I don't want the database to be cloggered with useless pictures (TMP directories, etc.).

I would like to right click on a folder an select "exclude from database" so that it nevers is indexed (like done in ACDSee).

Workaround

Post by Clo »

:) Hello

• I have a workaround for that case :

- Add any non-existing fancy extension to these folders (i.e. : .KK), then go to :
Options >> File list and state that extension to exclude, last field at the bottom of the dialogue-box.

- I tested, that works like a charm, such folders are no more displayed in the browser as sub-folders…
… in the thumbnail-board, but remain in the tree.
- It could be possible to hide them in the tree, that exists in Total Commander F.M. as an “Ignore” function (to add here).

Note : The include - Exclude indications are missing in that dialogue, you must guess; this has been reported (in the French forum).
- To get them, just PM me, I've a solution -in French only, though-)
