Some post above we discussed the following:

negg wrote:So I wish it would be like this in XnView:
- A special shortcut to go to the keywords directly (as I think they become more and more important in the digital image world, so this would make sense)
- There all selected image's keywords are shown with checkboxes beside just like in windows file property dialogs: when a property is common to all files the check is black, if some files have the property the check is grey
- removing a checkbox means delete keyword from all files
- making a grey check black (by clicking on it) means apply keyword to all
Ok, a great enhancement...
The thing I mean is the checkbox beside each keyword that woul allow to add/remove a single keyword from multiple images that exists in only some files. E.g.

File A has keywords: Martin Marie Max
File B has keywords: Martin Max Xavier

Now I want to remove Marie, but add Xavier from/to both files. If I select both files and open the keywords dialog xnview would show the following:

(x) Martin (a normal checkbox, keyw. exists in all files)
(x) Marie (a grey checkbox, keyw. in some files only)
(x) Max (a normal checkbox, keyw. exists in all files)
(x) Xavier (a grey checkbox, keyw. in some files only)

I click the grey checkbox at "Marie" it becomes black, I click again it is unchecked -> Marie will be removed from all files

I click the grey checkbox at Xavier, it becomes black -> Xavier will be added to all files that don't already have it.

Understand what I mean?

But the more I think about it I think another feature would be even more helpul: Autocomplete!

I mean when I start typing a keyword XnView looks up the part that I typed in a small dictionary of all keywords I have ever typed. So then adding existing keywords would be much more easy.

Example: a few days ago I added the keyword "Xavier" to a file. XnView remembers this keyword in a dictionary.

Today I type "Xa" and XnView autocompletes it to "Xavier", I can press enter and the keyword is added, or I can press Esc and the autocompletion is removed.

Christmas Wishes ;-) I know. But compared to all the other features in XnView the IPTC dialog really looks a little oldfashioned, I think...

Thanks for reading!

I'd also find this feature very useful.

The other thing I really miss is the synchronisation of categories with the IPTC data. E.g. I take one or several categories, drag and drop them to one or several pictures, and the categorie names are written to the IPTC keywords (maybe also with all the "parents" of the categories dragged).

On the other hand, the IPTC keywords of all pictures browsed so far could be shown in the category tree on the left-hand side of the XnView window (it would be useful then to be able to sort them via drag and drop in a hierarchical way). Thus it would be very simple to anotate keywords already used before to new pictures.

Removing IPTC keywords could work like in the post above by picking a photo and unchecking the category that's no longer wanted in the category tree.

With this feature, XnView would be an even greater and more professional tool than ist already is.

Cheers
