As reported as a footnote to another beta issue message: when I copy category filter results (all NEF images) to an empty folder the images all copy correctly but then an error message is repeatedly displayed immediately after the copy operation.
The error message is: "Cannot copy file: Cannot read from source file or disk".
There are 54 NEF images to be copied and the error message was presented 34 times.
I have tried to identify a unique feature of the 34 files and it appears to be the fact that they have IPTC tags that are displayed in the IPTC TAB of the Preview pane. The other 20 files don't display an IPTC TAB in the Preview pane.
The error does not occur if I copy the "copied" 54 NEF files (ie all in a single folder) to another folder.

Re: Copying Category filtered images to folder
Further to the above.
The repeated error only occurs if the "For Copy/Move use companion file" option is checked in the General-File Operations Option tab.
In the 1.92 beta, the companion files are not copied if the "For Copy/Move use companion file" option is checked but the errors messages occur. In version 1.91.5, if the option is checked, the companion files are copied.
The number of times the error message is repeated now seems to be associated with the number of companion files.
Incidentally, the copied files retain their "Rating" but loose their "Category" setting. This is not unique to the 1.92 beta versions.

Could you try to copy 1 NEF file with the companion in an empty folder, make the search on this folder with xnview. And copy the result?
Which settings do you have for companion?

I put a number of NEF files and their companion JPGs into a folder (not all the NEF files had companion JPGs).
I set (checked) the "copy/move use companion file" option.
1/ I manually selected a number of NEFs (that have companion files but I didn't select them) and copied the NEFs to an empty folder. The NEFs plus their companion JPGs copied correctly.
2/ I applied a unique Category tag to a couple of the NEFs in the source folder that I knew have companion JPGs. Applied the category filter and then copied the resulting two NEFs to an empty folder. Two error messages were presented. The 2 NEFs were copied but not the 2 companion JPGs.
3/ Repeated "2/" with one NEF and same problem with 1 error message presented.

Can't reproduce, i've added 2 RAW files to one category, view the category, and copy this 2 raw to an empty folder. No error dialog, and 4 files...PSHRutPark wrote:xnview wrote: I can't reproduce this problem.

Do you have changed the companion settings in xnview.ini?

Thanks for testing it. What type of RAW files did you use?xnview wrote: Can't reproduce, i've added 2 RAW files to one category, view the category, and copy this 2 raw to an empty folder. No error dialog, and 4 files...
Do you have changed the companion settings in xnview.ini?
I wonder if it would be worth repeating your test on the the NEF and JPG image pair "PSH-067-007" that I sent you a couple of days ago?
