SANE vs. TWAIN

Post by tft »

Are there any plans to support the SANE standard [1] for image capture ?

Here's a brief intro,

http://www.sane-project.org/intro.html

In short, it lets your "share" a scanner on a LAN which is what I
do on my network at home (I run mostly linux but have a few
windows boxes for the wife/kids, etc) - it works great but having
more applications that are able to interface to this standard would
be ideal.

SANE support within xnview would be great as the current existing
clients are rather lacking when it comes to other features and I
believe this would really augment xnview's current capabilities.

Sure - that would be great !

Out of curiosity -- don't the various platform versions share the same
code base ? Meaning a feature, such as SANE, added to the windows
version will ultimately make it to the other platforms, no ?
