Rename problem in browser mode (annoying extensions)

Post by m.Th. »

Hi,

In browser mode the extension is always displayed, so for someone which wants to rename many images is a little bit annoying to deal with it. Perhaps you can add an option to hide it, or, better, to use the dialog from the full screen mode. In this way we aren't forced to type '.JPG' every time when we change the file name.

TIA
m. Th.

You can enable option/Browser/Use dialog to rename

Hi,

Have been using Xnview(1.91.1) for sometime now. Its THE best image browser amongst all, included paid ones!

But I agree with m.Th. on this. The dialogue box to rename is not convenient at all. Firstly, dialogue box doesnt activate when you single click a file to rename. You have to right click and then hit rename. Secondly, the rename dialogue box doesnt remember its position on screen & gets centered every time you wanna rename a file- Not user friendly.

Please guys, add an option to hide extensions in browser view. I have seen it in most other image viewers. Its really annoying when u dont wanna use dialogue box to rename(its inconvenient) and when u rename a file, the extension goes with it. We have to specifically select only the image name so that we dont delete the extension with it. Hope to see this feature soon.

Thanks for an awesome program BTW! :)

Regards

Look under Thumbnails->Thumbnail Label. Add just Filename without Ext, make sure your view is set to Thumbnails & Labels, and you're off.

About renaming with extension, I'm not sure what you mean, but xnview has been separating them since 1.9 at least.
