Hi,
I'm just searching for an appropriate program to manage/catalog all my photos. XnView seems to be a perfect match, but I miss the important feature of being program independent. Do not missunderstand me, XnView seems to be the right chooise now, but in 5 or 10 years? Maybe I switch to an unsupported OS, or something else. Even when I rename an image the data is lost (even when from xnview itself). I don't wan't to reorganize thousend of images again. So what I was thinking about is to save some metadata in exif.
* Ratings can and should be saved in exif (see here, sorry german, near at the bottom is a list with the mapping of the data)
* Labels (or tags) can be saved in exif or maybe in IPTC (I'm not sure, at least in IPTC).
Cheers
Daniel
ps.: Found bugs:
* When rating an image in the imageviewer, XnView crashes)
* When changing IPTC manually, the rating disappers until XnView is restarted.

Yes ..??? Any sample pictures? When rating an image in the imageviewer, XnView crashes)
How I do it:
1. I doubleclick a picture from the list with the small preview-images on the right.
2. I press Ctrl+<1-5>
3. XnView Crashes (I tested serveral different images)
I use Windows XP SP2, Intel Dual Core Duo, nothing special
Ok, in the viewer it crash, not in the browser!daniel_hamburg wrote:Yes ..??? Any sample pictures? When rating an image in the imageviewer, XnView crashes)
