Exporting EXIF data to files

Post by ulif_ »

I'm using xnview v.1.74 under WinXP, language is German.
Couldn't find a possibility to export EXIF data of my pics to a file. I've read a note on Metadata Export in the Edit menu somewhere in this forum, but obviously there is no corresponding menu item in the German version.
A functionality for exporting EXIF data in batch mode would be perfect!

Nevertheless, a great software, like it very much! :D

Sub-menu…

Post by Clo »

:) Hello !

• That works fine for me with a French version! Please, don't miss the sub-menu which offers you a bunch of options and three formats to save the EXIF info…
- It works in German too, like you can see there

Exif Data

Post by Guest »

:o Ups, I do not see any submenus at all in my Edit (or in German version, "Bearbeiten") menu. I have nothing besides "IPTC-Daten bearbeiten --- Strg-I". especially no menu items for "EXIF-.... Also nothing is mentioned in the help-file.

Good German DLL ?

Post by Clo »

:) Hi again!
- Indeed, you must display a file having embedded EXIF info !
- You can get a pretty JPG with EXIF here Save the file from the right-click menu entry…

- In the "Bearbeiten" menu, you will see a "Metadaten" entry; at the right-end of that line, there is a small arrow showing that a sub-menu must be opened - it's the sub-menu you can see on my screen-shot above-.

- Whether you wouldn't get this still, I suppose that you could have a damaged German language-DLL. In that case, please download a new ZIP archive, and change that DLL only…

 Kind regards,
Claude

Still not there

Post by ulif »

Hi again, and thanks for your help!

I've downloaded the newest version of xnview and made a new setup. But I do not have the menu item "Metadaten" in the "Bearbeiten" menu, it's simply not there. There are also no other submenus in "Bearbeiten". In other menus, such as "Ansicht", they are there and working.

:?

Kind regards and Happy New Year!

:) Happy New year to you too !
I have nothing beside "IPTC-Daten bearbeiten --- Strg-I"
- ! This is NOT that entry, like I said you before !
- It's the penultimate row in the lower section of this menu !
- In German : Metadaten >> Sub-menu…

the menu item "Meta data..." and its sub menu items are only available in View mode. So you have to open an image first, and then you can export the image's meta data using "Edit > Meta data... > Export ..." (German: "Bearbeiten > Metadaten... > EXIF-Daten als Text exportieren")

Greetings, Helmut
