Unable to view image files inside a zip file

Post by Gues-T »

I tried to view some image files inside a zip file with XnView v1.92 (archive addon included), and it fails to display images that contain '[' or/and ']' character in the image filename.
I can provide the zip file sample if necessary.

I have the same problem with password protected zip files

I have the same problem with password protected zip files that have jpg files in them.

Maybe it is the password component that is the problem.

When I select the zip file, it shows blank icons for the images, but does not ask for a password.

I have the same problem. If there's a [ in a folder INSIDE a zip file, it will not display the images inside.

e.g., "archive.zip" containing a folder named "inside[" will fail to show images inside that folder whereas if it were called "inside" there would be no problem.

i am using the latest version of xnview, and am using winrar 3.71. i am also using win89. i also prefere to use the STORE compression option

the archive addon only works when: i highlight a list of pictures in winrar, select add to archive option, and save the archive... then, in xnview, i can click the archive, and easily spacebar thru all of the images.

but, i get the error "format of the file ... could not be determined" if i repeat the above but add a password to the archive

theoretically, i can use winrar to access an archive i've passworded, and click on an image filename, and xnview will pop up and let me see the image, but then of course it's only that one picture. you cannot use xnview at that point to scroll thru the remaining images. and clicking on another image filename within winrar opens up another instance of xnview with that one image showing.

it would be nice if the archive addon could access a passworded winrar archive as easily as it can access one that isn't passworded.

i simply want to place passworded adult pics onto cd's so the kids can't accidentally view them... archiving isn't necessary... perhaps xnview might be able to have a password feature of it's own someday??

but, anyway, i absolutely love xnview. thank you so much for such a wonderful program. i use it always, and tell others about how wonderful it is.
