Strange thumbnail quality problem

Post by herr_k. »

i am using 1921,
i delete the dbcache,
i am entering a pix-folder,
the thumbs are build,
looking like this:
Image
i click on a picture to view it,
i click back - the view switches again to the thumbs,
the thumbs look still like on the snapshot above.
i enter another folder,
i enter again back to the first folder above,
the thumbs look like this:
Image
??
i rebuild the thumbs, they look like the first snapshot,
move to another folder, move back and again the same (snap2)..
happens only moving back and forth between folders, not between picture/folder..
anybody an idea?

I think that you use lossy compression for thumbnail cache

On the second pass, thumbnail are loaded from cache (jpeg)

jes, but i still dont get it,
so xnview is converting 2 times when building thumbnails,
first time for viewing directly and then again for saving?
wouldnt it be faster then to convert directly to the saving thumbnail quality?

Not exactly that. Xnview creates the thumbnail, shows it, and saves it in cache (compression)
